Tryouts

How do I register for tryouts?

Visit the 2027 Team Tryouts page, find your player’s age group, and click the registration button for that team.

Does registering guarantee a roster spot?

No. Registration allows your player to attend tryouts. Team selections are made by the coaching staff after evaluations are complete.

What should players bring to tryouts?

Players should bring:

  • Baseball glove
  • Bat
  • Batting helmet
  • Cleats or turf shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Catcher’s gear, if applicable
How early should players arrive?

Players should arrive approximately 15 minutes before their scheduled tryout time to check in, stretch, and get ready.

What happens if weather impacts tryouts?

If weather causes a schedule change, families will be contacted using the information submitted during registration. Updates may also be shared through Wildcats communication channels.

Teams & Age Groups

What age groups do the Wildcats offer?

The Willoughby Wildcats currently offer travel baseball teams from 8U through 16U.

Which team should my player try out for?

Players should register for the age group based on their age on May 1 of that year.

For example, if your player is 10 years old on May 1, they would typically try out for 10U. If you are unsure which age group is correct, contact the coach for that team before registering.

Do you have to live in Willoughby to play for the Wildcats?

No. Players do not have to live in Willoughby to try out or play for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats are a community-based travel baseball program connected to the Willoughby baseball community, but players from surrounding communities are welcome to try out.

Can my player play other sports?

Yes. Many Wildcats players are multi-sport athletes. Families should communicate any known conflicts with the coaching staff as early as possible.

After Tryouts

When will roster decisions be made?

How will families be contacted after tryouts?

What happens if my player is offered a roster spot?

If your player is offered a spot, the coach will share next steps, including acceptance timing, team expectations, possible winter workouts, uniforms, and season planning.
